My 'These Four Walls' project led to further experiments along the same theme, of which this print (Eyebrow Lulled) is one. I created it by taking three of my wall compositions and overprinting them using fluorescent red, yellow and blue ink. This was an unexpected experimental success!
Whereas the Walls project began from a place of darkness and confinement, it has changed now.
The walls don't just hem you in. They are a place of safety, of imagination, of possibility: where you can be free to be creative.
I'm delighted to announce that ‘Eyebrow Lulled’ is one of four Highly Commended works at the Qube Arts Open 'Shape & Colour' exhibition. The exhibition runs from 1st July to 27th August 2021 in Oswestry and is also online.
Best in show winner is Rhi Moxon with one of her stunning screen prints. I saw them in the flesh at Ty Pawb Print International and absolutely loved them — such presence. Very happy coming second fiddle to Rhi. You can see her winning piece in the photo, bottom left on the wall with the opening. My print is just above to the right.
Vote for your People's Choice favourite in the gallery or online. The winner gets an exhibition at Qube next year. To vote, email art@qube-oca.org.uk with the artist name and title of work (Dulcie Fulton, Eyebrow Lulled, if you feel so inclined!), and your name and postcode.
Eyebrow Lulled was a one-off. I intend to make a similar print as an edition; a large square composition, and a smaller more accessible series. Join my email list if you'd like to know more — subscribers get priority when prints go on sale.
